Mr Douglas is a Consultant Orthopaedic and Spinal Surgeon based at the Northern General Hospital and the Sheffield Children’s Hospital. With time he has concentrated more on spinal surgery, and spinal trauma. He became a spinal surgeon to the Princess Royal Spinal Unit. He has been involved in the management of scoliosis since his first appointment and operates on roughly equal numbers of paediatric and adult cases with spinal deformity. In addition to his spinal interests he has maintained a general orthopaedic practice, mainly hip and knee replacements, together with arthroscopic surgery of the knee, and other lower limb problems. Management and Professional Activities He was Secretary of the Orthopaedic Sub-Division from 1993 to 1999, and Clinical Director of Orthopaedics from 1999 to 2002.
