Amjid Ali is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in arthroscopic and open surgery of the shoulder and elbow.
Amjid graduated from the University of Sheffield in 1996 and did his General Surgical and Specialist Orthopaedic training in Sheffield.
He undertook his specialist Shoulder and Elbow Training in The Shoulder and Elbow Unit at The Northern General Hospital in Sheffield under the supervision of Mr David Potter and Mr David Stanley. He was also appointed as a Fellow to Dr Jeff Hughes and Professor David Sonnabend in Sydney, Australia in January 2007, again gaining excellent experience in dealing with shoulder and elbow problems. In January 2008 he was appointed to Sheffield Teaching Hospitals as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery.
During his training Amjid has undertaken research into shoulder and elbow problems which he has published in peer reviewed journals and also presented this work both nationally and internationally. He has also designed surgical instruments which are used in revision elbow arthroplasty surgery.
As a Consultant Amjid continues to play an active role in research, training medical students, junior doctors and trainee surgeons.
Amjid is a Fellow of The Royal College of Surgeons, Member of the British Orthopaedic Association and Member of The British Elbow and Shoulder Society.
