About SOL

History & Aims

Sheffield Orthopaedics Limited (SOL) was formed in 2004 by 12 local orthopaedic surgeons to provide a high quality private orthopaedic service for Sheffield and the surrounding regions.

It is our belief that an orthopaedic healthcare organisation owned and run by orthopaedic surgeons will deliver a higher quality of care than organisations driven by business managers and shareholders.

SOL's founding surgeons are all successful NHS surgeons who remain committed to the success of the NHS.

SOL has to grown to include more surgeons, such that presently we have 19 Consultant Surgeons working for our patients. In addition we have Specialist Orthopaedic Practitioners who work very closely with individual surgeons to deliver excellent and timely orthopaedic services.

SOL continues to work in close partnership with the Sheffield Teaching Hospital Trust to ensure that NHS patients receive the best available quality of service whether they are treated at a Trust hospital or by SOL.

SOL's aim is to be the leading independent provider of orthopaedic healthcare in the UK.
